Thrive Collective X Queens Public Library

  • 0

In celebration of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary Thrive Collective partners with the NYC Queens Public Library to facilitate a series of Hip Hop and creative writing workshops at three branches throughout the borough.

This week we kicked off the series at the Jamaica Central branch where participants and staff read and discussed poems and lyrics written by Hip Hop icons and even wrote their own rhymes! Participants were also introduced to the culturally rich Afro-Peruvian Cajon drum, and made some really cool beats too!

In addition to serving youth at the Jamaica Central branch, teens at the Long Island city and Far Rockaway branches will also experience beats and bars at the library via the R.H.Y.M.E music and mentoring program this spring

Stay tuned! R.H.Y.M.E is coming soon to a library near you.
