As we wrap up the 2023-2024 school year, we salute our hometown heroes, the Brooklyn Nets for partnering with Thrive Collective since 2019.
In so many ways, Brooklyn is home. Jeremy‘s immigrant grandparents all landed in Brooklyn during the Great Depression. His parents experienced their own West Side love Story in the borough during the tumultuous 1960s. His children were born and raised and educated in Brooklyn public schools. Thrive’s flagship School Murals program matured in Bay Ridge, and scaled after the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy in Coney Island in 2013. To this day, we operate our Murals programs out of Coney Island Gospel Assembly, with whom we began partnering after the storm.
That’s why we said, “Yes!” when the Brooklyn Nets asked us to lead four school and community mural projects this year exploring “The Brooklyn Way” in Bay Ridge, Coney Island, Flatbush, and East New York. It’s the Brooklyn Way.
