Dear Friends and Family,
I hope you are all safe and managing through these uniquely challenging times. As difficult as it is for many of us to stay isolated, it is even tougher for today’s teenagers. More acutely, the underprivileged youth of NYC need outlets to activate their social lives, physical and mental health — safely.
I have decided to start a fundraiser in support of Thrive Collective. Their mission is to mobilize students, parents, artists, and community stakeholders to partner with public schools for transformative change. They function both as a matchmaker and direct service provider of arts and mentoring programs that cultivate the character and competencies necessary for students to thrive in today’s world, primarily the five boroughs in New York City.
Thrive runs a Summer basketball camp that will be severely limited due to Coronavirus restrictions. My first goal is to create a safe environment for the participants with the donation of much needed PPE equipment. Second is to help the program purchase new equipment and fund general expenses. Finally, we will be creating a series of awards for outstanding participants in the program. 6 winners of the Sportsmanship Award will receive a brand new pair of Air Jordans & 2 winners (one boy & one girl) will also receive gift certificates to Stadium Goods. The more we raise, the more winners & cool prizes we can donate.
I want our donations not to just create a safe environment, but also to give the boys and girls participating something fun to thrive towards.
