Teng Teng Workshop at Thrive Collective Studios
We were proud to host the latest Microcosm workshop by Teng Teng at Thrive Collective Studios on April 2. More to come.
Teng Teng is an artist from China, currently based in New York City. For over 15 years, she has developed a wide array of themes across many mediums, including watercolor, oil, acrylic and tempera.
Microcosm by Teng Teng is an art endeavor she started shortly after arriving in NYC in 2016. It was inspired by ancient hand scrolls, an art form of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) that was treasured and shared among the people. This art work expresses the course of time, within a miniature frame, with the meaning to carry and share the wonderful. The miniature frames (1.1 x 1 inch made of alloy, silver, and 18k gold) are originally designed by the artist to contain paintings within. These pieces can be worn as brooches, necklaces, or rings. In this manner, the wearer becomes a moving gallery showcasing the unique pieces to the world. The pieces can also be appreciated as art work that can be framed and hung on a wall.
