Queens Prep Academy: Change Starts With Us

Proper representation of people who are from different communities regardless of race, religion or orientation is important in the climate of today’s society and the ever-changing view of self. As people become more in touch with who they are, fair representation should be displayed throughout all forms of media. The idea behind this mural is just that; an artistic display of inclusion. When you gather different perspectives you began to realize there is a lot that can be changed in the world today. The students at Queens Preparatory Academy  helped shed light on some of those issues such as LGBTQ equality, Gender Norms, Stereotypes, and also Police brutality.

The mural designed for Queens Prep Academy is a symbol of change and also the freedom to move forward within that change. The imagery of chains represents being held down without options, or help, whether it’s systematic, economic or judicial; but here we have broken those chains. We have been set free of limitation due to our willingness to come together. If we come together and build we can and will see change.
