Frank McCourt High School, located in the Brandeis Campus on West 84th street, sits a few blocks from Central Park. The school is named after Francis McCourt, writer, teacher, and Pulitzer Prize winner. Veteran teaching artist Nico Collazo worked with students to interpret the theme, “Inspire Growth Daily,” by focusing on collaboration, self awareness, and determination.
Students capture school pride in the design with writings and drawings of personal experiences including working together, student activities, class trips, and retreats at Camp Bernie. A large feather quill and ink jar represent the school’s namesake Francis McCourt. NYC Council Member Gale Brewer provided funding through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
