Every student — indeed every human — explores the timeless question, “Who am I?” Some of us spend lifetimes searching for answers.
Students at PS 94 answered the question to inspire this “I am” mural masterpiece by the legendary Tats Cru. The school held two sessions with students from the 4th, 5th, and kindergarten classes consisting of art and theme exploration activities revolving around phrases and words that will help motivate and inspire them. The students came up with a list of adjectives that describe themselves in a positive manner and attached them to sentences starting with “I am.” These statements, combined with other general statements, provide positive affirmations throughout the school building.
The Principal picked the most common, as well as unique, “I am” statements to be featured on the walls.
The positive affirmations are spread throughout the school’s hallways for students to view. The words and phrases were designed in a visually compelling way that draws the attention of students throughout the day. The finish is in clean graffiti lettering.
Tats Cru designed and painted these statements in the hallway of the 4th/5th grade section as well as the kindergarten hallway. They are premier muralists that have been doing graffiti and large scale mural productions around the world since 1980.
