“The PS/IS 288 mural project (along W 25th Street between Mermaid and Surf Avenues) in Coney Island is coming along beautifully! I was proud to secure resources for this great community art project prior to the pandemic and this initiative has found a way to deepen social connections in an era of physical distancing.
The talented scholars of PS/IS 288 shaped the vision of the mural and Thrive collective artists are helping bring it to life. I’m a big supporter of the arts in schools and there will be more announcements to come. Once this project is complete, we will have a formal celebration. Kudos to our talented scholars, the PS/IS 288 school staff, Principal Dixon, and Thrive Collective artists for your great collaborative work!” – NYC Council Member Mark Treyger, Education Committee Chair
