Born and raised in the Lower East Side, Franky Alameda founded the LES Sports Academy in 2010 to help under-served youth like he was to lead healthy, safe, smart lives through sports. Deeply rooted in the neighborhood, the Academy helps youth overcome obesity and teen violence by providing skills for success in the classroom, playing-field, and in life.
Affiliated with both MLB RBI and the Jr. NBA, LESSA provides affordable after-school, evening, and weekend youth sports programs. After losing his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Franky expanded the LES Sports Academy in 2021 with the launch of a seven-weeks summer camp for 80 students featuring baseball, basketball, football, and soccer.
