Thrive Collective returned to John Dewey High School for the 2023-2024 school year to inaugurate its Project Pivot program with an integrated arts academy. Collaborating once again with our partners Projectivity and Speek Lyfe, we produced a 36-week, multimedia experience in three 12-week modules:
- RHYME Hip Hop and Mentoring
- The JDHS Podcast
- School Murals
Veteran teaching artists Lawrence and Paul Coles facilitated both the RHYME and podcast modules, and Marissa Molina led the mural program with project management from Christine DiPasquale.
Student Deliverables
Our Project Pivot students produced:
- “What We Dewin’,” a fifteen episode podcast available on Youtube and Spotify.
- “Push Through, Follow through,” an original hip hop song and music video available on Youtube and Bandcamp.
- “The John Dewey Student Is…” mural in the main entrance hallway.
