From March to April 2024, Projectivity Director Christian Penn met with youth ages 7-11 from the SOME DC Liz Donahue House in Northwest DC to donate a mural to the community room. Students imagined using the space for celebration, taking pictures, playing video games, tutoring and learning, doing art and they all loved sports. They suggested including words Community and UNITY and that became the central theme. Students and staff helped paint the mural over two days and then celebrated among the residents and some of the students with a ribbon cutting.
This project was a collaboration between Thrive Collective and Projectivity, both 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations with a mission to provide hope and opportunity through arts, bringing resources and education for anyone pursuing the passions in the arts. Headquartered in NYC, this project is their first in the DMV area after setting up a new chapter in Silver Spring, MD and growing into the DC/Baltimore areas.
