Welcome to Leadership & Public Service High School

Leadership & Public Service High School commissioned this student mural to celebrate the school’s 30th anniversary, and welcome visitors with a bright design that shows the school colors and mascot and uses flowers and plants as a symbol of growth, diversity and inclusion. The students wanted to reflect the urban area around the campus and show the changes that have happened in the area over the past 30 years by including an image of the NYC city skyline from 1993, the year the school was established, and the current skyline of 2024. Surrounding the panther, the school’s mascot, are the words “Leadership, Excellence, Above and Beyond, and Determination,” four core values embodied by the school’s students and staff.

This project holds an extra place in our hearts. The school’s second principal Ada Rosario-Dolch was a friend and early adviser to the 20/20 Vision for Schools movement that has evolved into Thrive Collective. The school is located one block south of the World Trade Center. Despite suspecting that her sister had perished that morning at the towers along with her colleagues at Cantor Fitzgerald, Principal Dolch successfully evacuated the building and led her students to safety. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum honored Principal Dolch for her heroics that day.
