read moreWith the generous support of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, students from CS 111 in Long Island City designed and painted the “So Amazin’!” mural at the entrance of their school. They explored the Amazin’ lives they hope to live; the Amazin’ culture of Queens and the Queensbridge neighborhood surrounding the school; and the Amazin’ friends and community they hope to create. Casey Stengel, manager of the 1969 Mets team, coined the nickname Amazin’ Mets on their way to the first world championship season.
Earlier this year, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation funded a grant to Thrive Collective, a New York based non-profit whose mission is to create hope and opportunity through arts, sports and mentoring in and around public schools. The grant included support for this project, along with a fan activation mural at Citi Field celebrating Hispanic Heritage in September 2023.
